The Westport Cotton Manufacturing Company developed as a support for Fall River’s textile factories.

Horseneck Beach State Reservation is a public recreation area managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, located miles along the Atlantic Ocean. Other attractions in Westport include farms, conservation areas, and outdoor expeditions. Gooseberry Island is a small island off the coast of Westport at its southernmost point. Historically, it was used for grazing sheep. Gooseberry Island has a trail along the beach with views of Buzzards Bay.
