The motto of Fall River is “We’ll Try”. This phrase dates back to the aftermath of the Great Fire of 1843, when a fire broke out in the business district, destroying nearly 250 buildings. When left with the daunting thought and task of rebuilding the city, residents at the time stated, “we’ll try”.
